During a scheduled press conference, Governor Brian Kemp announced the decision to allow certain businesses to reopen on Friday, April 24, 2020.

The signed order allows gyms, bowling alleys, salons, and other indoor facilities, previously closed under the shelter in place order, to resume operations by Friday, April 24, as long as they comply with social distancing requirements and meet other safety standards. Restaurants will be allowed to reopen for dine-in services on Monday, April 27. Restaurant guidelines are expected to be released later in the week. Bars and nightclubs remain closed.

Governor Kemp's shelter in place order will remain through April 30; however, he urges those who are medically fragile to remain in place through May 13, 2020.

Kemp hinted he would start easing some restrictions on shuttered businesses as part of a coordinated strategy with other governors to jumpstart the region’s businesses.
