Curbside Bulk & Yard Waste Collection Guidelines

Automated Garbage Collection
In order to increase solid waste collection efficiencies and promote a safer working environment for collection crews, the Solid Waste Department provides solid waste collection services to its customers through an automated collection two-cart system. Solid Waste customers are provided with two 96-gallon carts, one brown cart for garbage and one blue cart for recyclables. Through this progressive collection system:

• Residents roll out one garbage container to the curb instead of multiple cans
• City provided carts with tight fitting lids prevent windblown litter on streets
• Reduces the potential for employee injuries

Garbage Collection Residential garbage is collected once per week. To identify your collection day call the number above. Please store your cart out of sight on non-service days (i.e., garage or backyard). Use of cart if possible, place all trash in plastic bags and secure the bags to help keep the container clean. Residents are encouraged to save space in the cart, recycling as much as possible. Items prohibited in cart are hot ashes, coals, concrete, rocks, large pieces of metal, tile, dirt, hazardous waste (e.g., paints, oils, corrosives, batteries). Cart Damage/ Replacement, Missed collection (cart not serviced on your regular collection day), or Bulk Pickup call the number above.

Excess Trash
The 96-gallon garbage cart is the equivalent of three regular 32-gallon garbage cans and should provide adequate capacity for an average household. Hold any trash that does not fit into the cart on your collection day to the next scheduled collection day.
