Wellness

The City of Union City is committed to the Health and Welfare of its employees. Living Healthy is not just a goal but a way of life.

We encourage our employees to eat healthy, get plenty of exercise and keep a peaceful spirit.

The Union City Wellness Program is designed to increase the well-being and productivity of all employees, through the enhancement of all aspects of health, professional development, financial well-being, and metal well-being. We believe the four components go hand-in-hand. The program seeks to increase awareness of positive health and wellness behaviors, to motivate and reward employees for choosing a healthier lifestyle.

Wellness Initiatives

Physical Well-Being

Involves aspects of life that are necessary for employees to keep themselves in top condition. Optimal physical wellness is developed through the combination of beneficial physical activity/exercise and healthy eating habits. A sound Physical Wellness Program will aid employees with developing personal responsibility for their own health care, such as caring for minor illnesses and knowing when professional medical attention is needed.

Professional Well-Being

Continuing professional development is important because it ensures you continue to be competent in your profession. It is an ongoing process and continues throughout a professional’s career.

Financial Well-Being

Finances and health go hand in hand. Financial problems are consistently the highest source of stress and can cause anxiety, frustration, and feelings of hopelessness, which can lead to or exacerbate health problems such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, stomach disorders, just to name a few.

Mental Well-Being

Mental well-being includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.
