The Traffic Enforcement Unit consists of five officers and is committed to using proactive and progressive education and enforcement efforts to ensure that the roads of Union City remain some of the safest in the State of Georgia. Reducing the number of, as well as the severity of, injuries resulting from motor vehicle crashes is the highest priority of the Unit and is second only to eliminating the occurrences of death in motor vehicle crashes. As a result of these officers’ efforts, crashes that result in serious injuries are kept to a minimum.
The officers assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Unit are highly trained and motivated. These officers have attended hundreds of hours of training in motor vehicle crash investigation and reconstruction at such institutions as the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Georgia. In addition to proactively enforcing Georgia’s Traffic Laws, they provide many educational opportunities for our residents and visitors to learn how to be defensive drivers.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit works closely and participates in programs sponsored by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Click It or Ticket Campaign, 100 Days of Summer Heat, and others. Officers assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Unit are also available to instruct parents on the proper method of installing and adjusting child seats.
